If you are a gay male you can stop taking PrEP just 2 days after your last sexual encounter. You just require one tablet daily for 2 days and you will be right to stop PrEP.

Prep is a tablet that when taken every day can help reduce the chances of HIV infection by up to 99%.

Should I increase my dose of PrEP if I’m having lots of sex?

The answer to this question is no. You need to continue taking the PrEP exactly as it was prescribed. One tablet a day is more than enough to protect you against HIV, no matter how much sexual activity you are having. Increasing the dose does not increase the amount of protection that you are offered.

If I miss a tablet of PrEP one day, should I double up the next day?

No. The good news is that there’s a bit of wiggle room when it comes to daily PrEP, so if you miss one day, it’s okay, you don’t need to take two tablets the next day.
